I absolutely love this. This virtual pet has so much depth. It also seems like the developer really understands what makes these games fun, and what doesn’t, because the usual tedious elements have been removed or improved. Great work.
I have one question though: I can’t find a combination of the auto-lock setting and the in-game “stay on” setting that actually keeps the screen on while the device is not charging. Was this removed in a system update from Panic?
Update: I don't really understand why, but I just left it on while unplugged and it stayed on for more than an hour. Since yesterday (the day I installed the game), I restared the game multiple times and restarted the playdate once (due to a crash when receiving bird facts).
About the “stay on” behavior.. from what you describe it sounds like it is working as intended now? Even though it behaved inconsistently at first. I didn't find the reason why it should not work.
And sorry for that crash because animal facts, fix will come with next update, If that occurs more often, you can turn of this facts for now.
I've only recently acquired my Playdate and amongst the titles I purchased initially were 2/3 short daily games to dip in and out of - a good reason to pick up my Playdate everyday I figured! Not played the a tamagotchi type game before but thought I'd give this one a try after seeing the author's recent reddit post. I've had my pet for only a few days now but plenty of options keep popping up and I'm seeing new stuff everyday.
Really nice chill game. Developer seems to be updating regularly and open to feedback from users. Hopefully I'll be in a better position to give some feedback after a few weeks.
Hello! Not sure if the new Playdate OS updates are to blame, but the game seems to crash a lot now. As a result, I've gotten used to quitting to the main menu every time I'm finished checking in on my Blop.
Thanks for the reply! Most of the time, I don't get a chance to see it and the PlayDate main menu is already showing, but every once in a while, I see the standard app crash screen:
I hadn't had a chance to press B for more information, but I'll see if I can recreate the issue today.
So, I think the new Playdate OS is causing a bunch of problems for all games/apps. I do currently have a problem accessing the Blop wish list today, which caused a crash. Details:
Thank you for the clear error message. I checked the issue and made some changes—hopefully, the next update will handle it. If a similar problem comes up again, please let me know.
This is my favorite game on Playdate! Even on the days that I dont get to play a lot, I check on my Blop, whom I named Foxtail, throughout the day. He is my bestie, my work buddy, and my emotional support pet. Lol. There is so much to do and he is so cute every time I look at the screen (btw, the screensaver with his little face is my favorite feature). I love that the dev is constantly working on improving the game, adding features and listening to suggestions and bug reports and they put so much care in making Blop the best that it can be. The recent addition of jobs, hobbies and sounds just took it over the top. Please try this game if you are on the fence, you wont regret it. 💖
I love this game is my favorite pet on my playdate! If you are looking for suggestions though, a sound system for when the buttons are pressed. Just some sensors feedback, please. You are doing a wonderful job keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback! I had planned to add sounds but had other priorities. However, your comment made me realize how important they are, so I’ll try to bring them in sooner.
(By the way, I hope you’ll enjoy the new update coming this week—even without the sounds!)
Glad to hear that! And furnitures was like in development, thats why it was in dev tools, I was working on it but decided to do it different, so removed it :D But It will be much better, when it will be. I promise.
Excited to see a new update. Not sure why (if it's on my end or something else) but the newest version doesn't seem to be working with sideloading for some reason.
Hmm.. I dont really understand what is happening. I removed game and side loaded it again and it is working nice. I made previous version avalaible, you can check if you can sideload that.

Thank you for the fast reply. Yes it worked as intended all day today.
Great to hear that a patch is already on the way for the very important bird Facts 😁.
As I already said, I really like this game. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

Oh, thanks for the report. Next week I'm coming back work on this, so I hope I find the problem.
Can you tell me if there is some error message?

Awesome! Keep up the amazing work, I can't wait to see the results!
Well, first sounds arrived in the next update👀
Step aside tamagotchi. This game is officially my favorite virtual pet game! I am curious tho. Where did the furniture go?

Sorry, not sure what happened but it's working now. Thanks for the message!
No worries. Latest release seems to still not want to upload for some reason. Dont know if it's my phone or something else.

Looks like doing it from my laptop did the trick with the new update (it now worked to sideload). Sorry bout that and thanks for the update.
Turn Off-On doesn't help? I noticed this issue and I will try to fix it, but temporary turning game off and on helped me.
Looks like a super cute tamagotchi-like game!
Thanks, hope you like the game 👌
