Reading, Workouts, and the Introduction of Passive Activities (v14)


In this update, I focused not only on improving existing features but also on introducing something new—something I had planned from the very beginning. Blop has been living on his own, but let's give him more things to do, including activities that take real time so he stays engaged while you're busy with your own tasks. Think of him as a little working buddy! To start, I've added two new passive activities: reading and working out.

📚 Passive Activities

  • Passive activities can be started from the activities menu.
  • Both activities last 30 minutes:
    • They can be stopped earlier, but Blop won't gain any progress.
    • While an activity is ongoing, energy decreases more quickly (different based on activity)
  • Activities are interrupted if Blop falls asleep or you send him to shower.
    • Blop will hold off pooping until the activity is finished.
  • While an activity is in progress, a clock displays the remaining time.
  • 📖 Reading increases intelligence.
  • 💪 Workout increases strength:
    • Reduces fat.
    • Decreases hygiene faster.

🫠 Blop Evolution

  • New Strength skill:
    • The workout animation is influenced by the strength skill.
    • Currently, strength doesn’t affect anything else, but it will in future updates—so be prepared!
    • Strength gains are influenced by athletic traits.
    • Strength decreases slightly over time.
  • New reading animation.
  • Blop is unhappy when forcibly woken up, even if he has enough energy.
  • Blop now wakes up with the lights turning on only if he has enough energy.
  • Blop can't fall asleep while on caffeine.
  • New traits influence how quickly Blop gets dirty.
  • New wishes and tasks related to reading and working out.

✨ Improvements

  • Highscore system for basketball:
    • Earn coins for every new high score.
  • Clock Utility (originally made for passive activities but now available anytime):
    • Timer:
      • Displays a popup and plays a sound when finished.
      • Can be restarted.
    • Stopwatch:
      • Includes pause and restart options.
  • Menus now open from the right side instead of the bottom.
  • Reworked activities menu:
    • New, deeper menu possible.
    • Items change based on the current activity.
      • Even the button icon updates when a passive activity is active.
    • Icons added next to text labels.
    • Descriptions displayed for all activities.
    • Skill effects and activity duration are now shown.
    • High scores displayed for supported activities (basketball).
    • A background shade appears when the menu is open.
  • Walking icon added to the walking screen.
  • Death mail now includes the exact time of Blop’s passing.
  • Added new game tips.
  • Blop can receive coffee during walks to boost energy.
  • Tasks no longer show a count if only one action is needed.
  • Catching up catches is now much faster if more than an hour has passed.

🔉 Sounds

I've started working on sounds and made it easy to add more in future updates. Currently, sounds have been added for:

  • Opening menus
  • Toggling lights
  • Toggling the shower
  • Selecting items
  • Pooping
  • Spawning items
  • Finishing a timer

📖 Catalog Update

  • New Energy Pills – instantly boost energy.
  • Pressing "B" now first returns to the content page before closing the catalog.
  • Clicking on a link now also selects the first available item.
  • The mystery box now contains a wider variety of items.

⚖️ Balance Changes

  • Trait Adjustments:
    • Eater: Hunger decreases much slower than before.
    • Light Eater: Hunger decreases slower than before.
    • Healthy: Health increases at a slower rate.
    • Sluggish (formerly "Lethargic") – energy decreases more slowly.
  • Petting now boosts mood much faster.
  • Hygiene decreases more slowly while walking.
  • Stamina regenerates at a slower rate while walking.
  • More coins can be earned while walking.

🐞 Bug Fixes

  • Action hints were appearing above the side menu (e.g., when throwing a ball or trashing poop).
  • Action hints were reacting with menu closing.
  • The Happy Apple effect could end immediately.
  • The "wake up Blop" action hint sometimes appeared when he was manually woken up.
  • Some buttons in the activities menu were not drawn properly.
  • Grey Blop's eye expression was not rendered correctly in dark mode.
